"We are all born with wings, but sometimes the haters, the bullying and even well-meaning adults keep us grounded. Yet we are meant to soar. You are meant to fly high with gifts only you possess. The sky is big enough and is waiting for you!" - Alisha

Singing
"God blessed me with so many talents, and they are not mine to hoard. It isn't easy to step up on stage, but fear should be a motivator and NOT an excuse to not try. There is a blessing and a lesson with each event, conversation, and interaction. I loved music - R&B, soul, jazz, and Motown mainly - and sitting at Central Park, in East Providence, RI, are my first memories of singing in public. Then there were Martin Middle School talent shows, and my childhood friends and I were convinced we would be the next En Vogue. Joining the Prism of Praise Community Gospel
Choir as a teenager changed my life for the better. It led to needed fellowship and growth, lasting friendships, and several open doors. Two girlfriends and I started our own group Desiderata. I toured briefly with the Harlem Gospel Choir. I learned the power of my voice - and used it as often as I could whether karaoke, open mic, church, or paid gigs. I lost that voice because of an injury from COVID for six months, and when it returned with lots of training and rest, I met my producer and my first EP, Grand Rising, was born. I have been singing, featured consistently for two+ years now and there are no limits for what God has next for me." - Alisha

Poetry
Who Alisha is is evident in her poetry too. "MAGA, What You Talkin' Bout Willis?," "Caged Bird," and other pro-equity pieces demonstrate the activist. "Black Love, Love Black" and other culture poems affirm her pride. "Sisterly Advice" and other feminist poems confirm her relentless support for Queens and princesses. "Sticks and Stones are No Match for You" and others scream her commitment to God, "family," defending Black Kings, and herself. "Thank You Future Husband" and others like it explain the power of love, and Alisha's desire for her final first date.

All evoke passion, imagery, vulnerability, and a perspective that needs to be heard and is part of a larger, destined purpose. The mixture of singing within several of her spoken word pieces are a bonus. The delivery has resulted in consistent features, sometimes more than monthly, all over New England and beyond.
